MV Reviews: Mamamoo, bands and virtual reality.

Blue: The rest of last week’s videos, for you!

Blue: MAMAMOO, MAMAMOO, MAMAMOO

The girls of Mamamoo diss each other for being short, and it’s hilarious.

What I like the most about this is that the girls and the video itself don’t take themselves too seriously, which in turn gives them the freedom to just go wild and make something as comical and upbeat as this.

The setting and the props give it a childish look, everything just looks so playful and the girls really look to be enjoying it. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how you do a diss rap.

I particularly like the scene at 1:03 with the little car going downhill, I have always been fond of little things, and I’m taller than the members of Mamamoo so I guess I have found a new group to stan.

English Subtitles!

Blue: The video is pretty straight forward, we see the artist singing with a band. The lighting and the colors are what I enjoyed the most. The dark melancholic feel of the sets with the smoky background helps make a cohesive concept. And the lights make a contrast with their colorless surroundings. It has its obligatory shot of night cities and bokehs, but I always like that.

Something simple, but pleasant.

Blue: Rappers being rappers, walking in slow motion and looking cool.

Everything in the video seems that its there just to look cool, but its okay because it actually does.

The girl walking between motorcycles, the masked people, the virtual reality dancers, gives the video a vibe of technology apocalypse.

We could go deeper, we could say that this is intentional. The video looks like the rapper is surrounded by luxury and technology, but it all moves slowly, and looks surreal. He is living a virtual reality, that looks flashy but its void. He just walks through it all, without paying any mind to it. I prefer to see it this way.
