MV Reviews: Chocolate, food and lots of love!

Blue: It’s Valentine’s Day! And Kpop knows it.

Blue: The group is fawning over a girl. She has a box of chocolate on Valentine’s Day and they wonder who is it for, so they stalk her until she decides to confess.

The video has the typical ballad vibe, pastel colors and blurry filters. The sets are really pretty and the overall feel is cute but well, the boys creepily watching the girl is a little weird, and flower boys staring at me trough the screen makes me nervous, so yeah, there’s that.

It doesn’t really feel romantic at least to me, maybe because I’m not a fan of these boys, I don’t know.

In the end the girl gives the chocolate to a less flowery boy and they walk happily in to the distance, guess the girl didn’t appreciate the staring either.

Blue: One sided Christmas love, what a nice way to spend Valentine’s day.

Short haired girl is waiting for her friend in the station, she arrives and they spend the evening together, just like it seems they are used to doing. Short haired girl seems to look at the other with longing, while the other is oblivious. In the end, we have this dialogue (According to Youtube comments):

-What did you wish for?

-Mmm.. What did you wish for?

-I wished that next year I’ll spend Christmas with a boyfriend. What did you wish for?

-To not spend next Christmas with you

Damn.

The video is a typical ballad video, but the story is interesting… and sad.

Blue: Suho is that you? What are you doing in a Jo Kwon video?

The video begins with our protagonists in the middle of the street, where Suho turns around and the couple literally part ways. He leaves here behind and walks trough the city.

I really like how this looks, the slow motion here looks really good, every detail, every movement is captured and it makes it really interesting. We see that the events last just until the traffic light ends, but that is plenty of time to tell a compelling story.

Black and White is harder to achieve tan it looks, you need to take in account the light source, the colors, the angles to make it work, but they nailed it in here, it looks bright and it has a good variety of tones, I like it. And the choice, having black or White, reflects the choice, this or that.

The theme is roads, going this way or the other, at 1:49 it divides and show us an alternative, but in the end he chose this way and we see the consequences.

Also, just an idol can look good running in slow motion.

Blue: This is now my favorite ballad video ever.

We see our protagonists finishing another working day in what I suppose is a restaurant, and then they proceed to cook for their loved ones.

The video is another ballad video, pastel filters and slow motion, but this one is about food, which automatically puts it above the rest.

The takes are also good; I especially like the transitions, like at 0:37 from the pan to the cake. And food always looks good shot from above. It feels so real, in a sense. After all they say that people fall in love trough the stomach. But to me is really cute, just a simple gesture, we don’t see the typical novel romance is something more mundane, but still very dreamy. Maybe I just really like food.

Happy Valentine’s everybody! Feel the (Kpop) Love!!
